Down a winding gravel road, just at the border of Rockland and R0ckport, Maine, is a small grouping of summer rental cottages. They are cute but very basic...a dying breed sure to be looking a bulldozer and shiny, new development straight in the eyes. We just had to stay there while we could. In addition to painting several sunrises (So different every day!) I painted the full moon--twice! This oil painting was the second. It's amazing how bright the full moon can be when some of the ambient lights of developed areas is pulled away.

How can you paint the "full" moon on two different days? Easy--the true full moon occurred briefly much earlier in the day. So, the visual full moon, at night, is rarely full and often appears essentially the same for two nights.
